CURRENT NEWS

Just came back from the Simmons School of Management Leadership Conference 2009: Vision to Voice, Leadership in the Global Age. It is the premier event for women in the nation and celebrated its 30th anniversary.

 

Chief Executive Bear, Maxine Clark, founder of Build-a-Bear Workshop®, Inc. opened the session focusing on the theme that the unimaginable is possible and dream big!

 

Later Charlayne Hunter-Gault, former PBS Correspondent and CNN South African Bureau Chief, interviewed Mary Robinson, founder of The Ethical Globalization Initiative and former President of Ireland. The message that came forth was to harness the power of women at the grassroots level and then, stabilize it at the institutional level so that real change endures in achieving worldwide human rights.

 

Closing remarks were given by the Award-Winning Actress, Director and Producer, Diane Keaton, who shared personal stories of her life, along with heart warming video clips. Her sense of humor, heartfelt stories and beautiful smile charmed us all.

 

Overall, I met wonderful women and was inspired by all of their stories and would attend this conference again.
